Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy

WOLAS is committed to providing a workplace free from harassment and discrimination. Harassment is any unwelcome conduct that creates a hostile or intimidating work environment. Discrimination is any unfair treatment of an individual based on their race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected characteristic.

WOLAS prohibits all forms of harassment and discrimination. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Verbal harassment: This includes making derogatory or offensive comments, jokes, or insults.
  • Physical harassment: This includes threatening or intimidating behaviour, such as following someone, making unwanted physical contact, or blocking someone’s path.
  • Sexual harassment: This includes any unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
  • Discrimination: This includes refusing to hire, promote, or train someone; assigning them to a less desirable position; or otherwise discriminating against someone in their employment because of their race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or other protected characteristic.

If you believe that you have been harassed or discriminated against, you should report it to your supervisor, the General Secretary, or to a Board Member.

WOLAS will take all allegations of harassment and discrimination seriously. We will investigate all complaints promptly and thoroughly. If we find that harassment or discrimination has occurred, we will take appropriate action to stop the behaviour and to prevent it from happening again.

WOLAS is committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected. We believe that everyone has the right to work in a harassment-free and discrimination-free environment.

Here are some additional details about WOLAS’ anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policy:

  • Training: WOLAS provides training to all employees on its anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policy. This training helps employees understand what constitutes harassment and discrimination, and how to report it.
  • Investigations: When WOLAS receives a complaint of harassment or discrimination, it investigates the complaint promptly and thoroughly. The investigation is conducted by a neutral third party.
  • Remedies: If WOLAS finds that harassment or discrimination has occurred, it will take appropriate action to stop the behaviour and to prevent it from happening again. This may include disciplinary action against the harasser or providing counselling or other support to the victim.

WOLAS is committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels safe and respected. We believe that everyone has the right to work in a harassment-free and discrimination-free environment.
