Worldwide Lawyer
Education Program

The Worldwide Lawyer Education Program is a comprehensive, in-depth and new-focused program specially developed for those who want to conduct studies in the field of international law. Various activities such as lectures, workshops, current issues sessions and reading groups to be implemented within the education program will be carried out with the leading names of the field and aim to increase the harmony between theory and practice.

The Worldwide Lawyers Association (WOLAS) is an organization working in the field of international law and human rights, dedicated to the global struggle for justice and equality. WOLAS strives to ensure justice, protect human rights and establish the rule of law around the world. In its work, it defends the right of every individual to live in a just world order by adhering to the universal values of international law. Aiming to build bridges between different cultures and communities to achieve global justice, WOLAS focuses on developing effective solutions to human rights violations around the world by adopting critical and anti-colonial approaches. It is committed to raising public awareness in the struggle for human rights and contributing to the development of international law.

The Worldwide Lawyer Education Program to be organized by WOLAS is aimed to raise awareness on international law and human rights issues and to train qualified professionals in the field. The program combines theoretical and practical knowledge and emphasizes the importance of increasing the professional competencies of international lawyers and human rights defenders.

The education program is one of the core initiatives of WOLAS, an organization dedicated to advancing global justice and equality through its work in international law and human rights. This comprehensive program, tailored for individuals interested in careers in international law, comprises various components such as specialized courses, reading groups, and supervised practice, all featuring in-depth and novel approaches. In Turkey, human rights advocates often face challenges in participating in international human rights law activities. This difficulty impedes the ability of these individuals to effectively engage with and respond to current issues with the necessary expertise. To address this gap, WOLAS has developed an innovative education program that blends academic and professional perspectives.

The Worldwide Lawyer Education Program is structured to span a total of 7 months, consisting of three main stages, each lasting 2 months. The program includes key components such as reporting, monitoring, and legal operations, with a focus on international human rights violations and responses to them. By translating theoretical knowledge into practice, participants will acquire the necessary competencies for effective intervention in cases of rights violations.

The education program aims to bring current issues in international law to the agenda of academics, lawyers and related experts in Turkey. The program is organized as an educational activity of  Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Yaşam Boyu Eğitim Merkezi (BÜYEM) in cooperation with Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Geliştirme Vakfı (BUVAKIF).

You can access the details of the program via the introductory booklet.

We continue to work with all our strength to promote, protect and defend the universal values of justice and human rights.
